More productivity with optimal load carriers

Customized load carriers ensure higher efficiency!

Use of tugger trains

Route train supply of the production lines offers many advantages. Due to a higher transport capacity, the material supply is calmed down. For example, a tugger train can consist of 5 trailers, which moves 5 load carriers at once. Alternatively, trailers can be used for multiple load carriers (Double-U-Frame).

In one trip, several stations can be supplied with raw materials and assemblies and the finished products can be transported away. With trolleys tailored to requirements, different materials in different batch sizes can also be made available to a processing station in pre-sorted form. Sorting at the workplace is no longer necessary and the paths remain free most of the time. Which significantly reduces the probability of accidents. In addition, only one driver with one trip performs the work that would require 3-4 trips. Under certain circumstances, personnel can be deployed more efficiently in the plant.

However, the tugger train is only one piece of the puzzle of efficient production line supply and must not be considered exclusively separately. When switching to route train supply, the route planning, the stations, the control system and, above all, the transport equipment must also be suitable for the transport solution. With the expert knowledge of our team, many problems can be detected and eliminated in time.

What comes first tugger train or load carrier?

The modular design of the Wegard Trail allows the tugger train to be adapted to existing load carriers. If different load carriers are used in the plant, this creates additional challenges. Although the use of the hinged lifting lips can provide a remedy, the process times are extended as a result.

When the tug trailers and the trolleys are developed together and adapted to each other, several advantages result. With a latching mechanism tailored to the trolleys, the chassis is stopped when pushed in, achieving centering in the tugger trailer. The worker also notices immediately that the trolley has been positioned correctly and can no longer slip out. At the same time, the latching mechanism ensures transport safety. Several orders enabled the development of load carriers that were built in a very flat design for better stackability and were ideally adapted to the route train. If the tugger trains are introduced subsequently, problems may arise with existing load carriers. Under certain circumstances, these can get caught or not engage properly. By customizing the lifting lips, it may be possible to achieve an optimal solution with existing load carriers.

Smart interaction of tugger trains and load carriers

The adapted trolley geometry makes the detection of the load by the control electronics more reliable, which can significantly reduce process times. When a load carrier is removed, the lifting lips move to a loading position and the latching device is activated. When loading the trailer, the lifting function can also be activated automatically.

Tugger train versatility

A tugger train can transport not only pallet chassis but also any other load carriers built on the standard chassis. In particular, tiered trolleys, auxiliary assembly trolleys and auxiliary trolleys lead to more efficient supply of the production line. Small load carriers (KLTs) can be delivered pre-commissioned with a chassis. A further increase in productivity can be achieved by transporting the entire processing stations with a route train.
